Process Management Improvement

Process Management Improvement

HW&W has a significant business focus on the management and improvement of business processes. Our focus includes process quality assurance, operational quality control, performance measurement, and continuous process improvement. HW&W blends unique methodologies, based on established standards and practices, and implemented by an experienced staff. This combination, established in a collaborative environment and customized for each project, enhances productivity and assures that project goals are met or exceeded.

HW&W Approach

There are three key elements to the HW&W approach to process management. Our approach is standards based, collaborative, and corrective and predictive. For example, management review methodology is based on ISO 9000, ISO 14000, and ISO 18000 standards. Quality assurance/control methodologies are based on the Software Engineering Institute's Capability Maturity Model and the IEEE Standards Guide. HW&W staff focus on working with our clients in a collaborative manner. Our goal goes beyond establishing process compliance with standards. We are interested not only in identifying gaps and areas for improvement but assisting with mechanisms that facilitate improved processes. HW&W has developed a methodology merging ISO 9000, ISO 14000, and ISO 18000 into one auditable model. This methodology reduces the cost of audits and reviews while improving their consistency and quality. All of our process management methodologies are both corrective and predictive. When instances of incomplete compliance are identified, we apply a systemic approach to identify other areas with similar gaps in compliance so that solutions can be addressed at the highest level in the organization. We examine performance measurement and metrics in a similar manner.

HW&W Experience

HW&W has provided process management/improvement services to a variety of organizations. These assignments have included developing management systems review procedures, providing process management certification and training, conducting certification and accreditation of information systems, establishing and operating quality assurance/control programs for systems development, developing risk-based process assurance methodologies, and establishing measurement criterion and processes in support of performance based contracting. Our clients have included federal organizations, independent entities, and academia.

The HW&W Team

Much of the rigor and strength of our process management activities derives from the experience of the HW&W team. Team members are senior professionals with 20 or more years of experience. They have formal certification in their various disciplines. This is reinforced with continual training and research. To these credentials, they add unique experience in the federal sector. Many of the staff are former federal senior managers. They bring a depth of experience working with government regulations, guidelines, oversight bodies, and the overall federal environment.
